History
Enterprise of Medicines and Dyestuff “Sintofarm” was constituted in 1973. on the profile of Chemical Factory “SINTOFARM”, which was created on the 1st of October 1969 by merging four enterprises: Medicine Factory “Sintofarm”, The Chemistry Plant “Getica”, the Factory “Reactive” and the Factory “Sin”, named Chemistry Factory “Sintofarm”.
“Sintofarm” medicine factory had as basis the Limited Company “Nitranil” founded in 1946 profiled on syntheses of chemical products. In 1962, the factory is named “Sintofarm “, being trademark in Geneva. The dyestuff section was developed instead of the chemical unit “Phenolit”, which was functioning since 1916.
The 1971-1975 period is characterized by modernizing and growth of producing capacities. As a follow-up of this development, the value of the production is twice as big as the one in 1971.
The realization in 1970 of the universal pilot installation created the possibility that in 1971-1975 the measurement productions to be created for the new products made for clinical experiments and, in the same time, to be realized products of little weight.
In 1972 enters in function a synthesis installation for derivates from salicylic acid, medicines with analgesic action, anti-inflammatory, at a capacity of 2,6 bigger, the intern consumption and the export couldn’t be assured of the old installation.
The research during 1971-1975 was focused on completing the scale of medicines in the anti-cholesterol and anti-diabetics.
This remarkable dynamic of the production is the result of the gradually modernization of the equipments and installations, of a continuous activity in studying and researching to improve the assortments, to rise the quality of the products, to improve the working conditions.
To introduce the technical progress there are assimilated in production 23 new assortments which diversify not only the scale of medicines, dyestuffs and epoxy resins, but also the fabrication profile, by assimilating the glitter agents used in galvanizing and polyurethanes industry used in synthetic skin fabrication.
In 1980, the new and reprocessed products value grew considerable, contributing in touching a level of renewing production with 42%.
Between the years 1981-1985 were produced 33 new products, from which we remember: Chlorzoxazonum, Piracetamum, Xilin, Clorofibratum, Nadolsin PR 102A, PR 103A, PR 200.
There were modernized the installations or the technologies at a number of 20 products, as: sodic and acid saccharine, B Chloramines, Fenacetinum, Sulfochinaxina, Methyl silicate, Tolbutamidum, Phenolphthalein, etc.
The successes obtained in the mentioned period, made Sintofarm I.M.C. one of the reference societies in the domain.
The first two years of 1986-1990 period had as principal aim the program realization regarding the improvement of the organization and the modernization of product processes, which ensured the fulfilling of the principal technical-economical indicatives and of the production plan. In these two years, it was given a special attention to new products assimilation and to raising the quality parameters of the current production. I.M.C. Sintofarm presents a various and large scale of medicines, dyestuff, resins, glitter agents and polyurethanes, many of these being exported.
In the company portfolio also entered products as a response to the imposed conditions by the nuclear program. At number 1 Reactor were used: resins, glitter agents and corrosion inhibitors.
In these years, the enterprise list catalogue contains an impressive offer made by:
- Human and veterinary medicines
- Organic dyestuff and optical whitening agents
- Epoxy resins
- Polyurethanes
- Varied organic products
In 1999 the synthesis part was given up because of ecological reasons. We had to correspond to the environment conditions and there were taken from portfolio the dyestuff, the glitter agents, the pollutant emissions in general.
Slowly, the scale of active substances was getting smaller by keeping only the most valorous and less polluting products: Piracetamum, Chlorchinaldolum, Disulfiramum, etc.
It started the assimilation of less polluting technologies: the fabrication of soaps and disinfectant products and the developing of technologies for the processing of active substances which were synthesized as tablets, pills, gels, and suppositories.
It was produced active substance for Saprosan, Chlorzoxazone, Piracetam, Paracetamol, Meclofenoxat, Antalcol. For Propanolol, Sinergolin, Sintocalmin, gels, suppositories, Clonidine, the active substance was imported.
Since 1999, S.C. Sintofarm S.A. is a society with private major capital.
A first step for a better quality of the products was constituted by the implementation of quality system management and the obtaining of ISO 9001 certificate in 2000.
In 2003, the soaps and disinfectants fabrication was given up because of reasons of profitableness.
Investments were made in 2003-2004, for developing the pharmaceutical dosed forms, succeeding to obtain the GMP certification in 2004 on 3 areas of fabrications:
- GMP certificate no 51 for fabrication areas un-sterile products – solid forms suppositories and un-sterile product –semisolid forms multi-dosage-dose(gels)
- GMP certificate nr. 67 for fabrication area: un-sterile products – solid forms uni-dosage-dosed (tablets and pills)
In 2005 it started the products image modernizing process. Since November, same year, the new line of production arrangement installation has begun, the nutritive supplements one.
There were kept in the production plan two disinfectants, which are named as biocides: Hexigel and Chloramines B tablets, which were produced untill 2006, because the E.U. doesn’t agree with the active subsance. From this reason, it passed to the production of Chloramines T tablet.
In the present we want an improvement of the list catalogue, which consists in giving up the products that haven’t proved the renthability and introducing new ones.
In June 2007, the factory was recertified GMP on all its 3 areas of fabrication for the next three years.
